Favorite NYC Coffee Shops

I am constantly on the hunt for cozy, comforting coffee shops in NYC, anytime I need a little escape from the hustle & bustle of the city. Coffee shops have become my designated sanctuary for studying or just simply catching up with a friend. I have picked out a few of my favorite spots in the city, so far. But, after another semester of going to school here, I know my list will become even more extensive.

1. Cafe Grumpy

(pictured above)  The name can be a bit deceiving, being that this is actually quite a pleasant place to come to. With 8 locations throughout NYC and Brooklyn, you are likely to come across one in passing. With their coffee being served in bright mugs, it is sure to brighten your day and provide you with your caffeine fix for sure.

2. Intelligentsia

(pictured above) This definitely has to be my favorite coffee shop in NYC. It is located in the Highline hotel lobby, providing it with an amazing ambience, leaving you feeling very posh by the time you leave. My mother has a very particular taste for coffee, and she loved this place when I took her here...so that is saying a lot! In the warmer months, you can also sit outside on their patio, complete with comfy couches and umbrellas for shade. If you want the perfect combination of quality coffee and great atmosphere, this is the place to come!

3. Ralph's Coffee Shop

If you thought that the Ralph Lauren store on 5th Avenue couldn't be more perfect, you just have to check out their coffee shop on the second floor. It has a great overlooking view of 5th Avenue, and the atmosphere brings you the perfect mix of preppy and sophisticated. They now even sell merchandise, if you love it so much that you want to take a piece of it home with you :)

 4. Toby's Estate

(pictured above) This place also has a few locations around NYC. The shop that I have visited is located in the Flatiron district, and is a coffee bar attached to a strand bookstore, as well as Club Monaco right next door. This particular location is on the smaller side with limited seating, but I definitely recommend checking out the other larger locations, if you feel like going to a great coffee shop.

5.  Blank Slate

(pictured above) Great coffee, s'mores dip, salads, and occasional store events-this place has it all! I came here one time with a friend at night, and we unknowingly walked into "Friends Trivia night," which was quite a nice surprise! We attempted to participate but kept getting a little distracted by talking and the yummy treat we had in front of us-the s'mores dip! This is a a great place to hang out at any time of the day, and they are sure to have anything that you might be craving!
