The Start of Autumn

Sweater: Free People via Lord & Taylor; Jacket: The Loft; Jeans: The Gap; Hat: Forever 21; Booties: Sam Edelman via DSW
As the summer came to a close and Fall weather began to approach, I am sure you were all as eager as I was to break out my Fall wardrobe and temporarily store away the summer clothing. As much as I do enjoy the summertime, it is sometimes refreshing to have a change of pace, and what better way to do that than with the change of seasons?

Nevertheless, with the start of a new season comes the wants and needs of new essentials to supplement our wardrobes. I, personally, usually keep my clothing for years until they are no longer in good condition because it does less damage on my wallet and because there are always a few of those pieces that are just worth keeping. However, I obviously had to buy a few items of clothing for the fall weather., to satisfy my love for shopping and scoping out new trends.

In these photos alone, I tried to depict a few of the top trends for this season:earthy tones (color of my jacket) and of course, the Pantone color of the year: Marsala (in my booties). I found this dusty olive green colored jacket on the sale rack from the Loft, and ended up snagging it for about $20! What drew me to it was the somewhat military vibe that it has, which has been a very popular trend within the past year. I also knew that the light weight feel to it would make it a perfect transitional jacket in between seasons. This Free People sweater that I am wearing in these photos is my go-to sweater this season, because it is so comfy and stylish at the same time and it is the perfect thickness for this time of year. This is just one of my Fall looks this season, and I hope to be posting some more soon!

Free Activities in NYC Now

If you wish to savor the very last moments of summer, I strongly suggest you throw on a life jacket, grab a paddle, and kayak your way down the Hudson River, on Pier 26.  To make this activity even better, it is offered for free by the Downtown Boathouse, a nonprofit corporation which accepts donations for the event.  But, do not wait too much longer because this fun water activity ends on October 12th and is only offered on the weekends! All you have to do when you get there is sign a waiver and you will be on your merry way down the river. As if it cannot get any better, you will have the most gorgeous view of the New York City skyline, including the Freedom Tower.  Take advantage of this amazing free activity because it is not very often that you will find something free in NYC, let alone something as fun as this. This event is a must try if you live in the area or happen to be visiting.

Somewhere Beyond the Sea

Dress: Rachel Roy via Macys, Shoes: Guess via DSW, Cross body Handbag; Michael Kors

Last week, I went on a week long cruise aboard the Carnival Pride, with my family and grandparents. For anyone who has not yet cruised in his/her lifetime, I would definitely recommend it! It is the perfect vacation for families, because there is always something to do for everyone, of any age. Whether you enjoy swimming, partaking in various types of trivia, engaging in leisurely sporting activities, or just lounging around while eating all you want, the cruise ship has it all! Another great aspect of cruising is the variety of ports of call that the ship lands at. This particular cruise ship stopped at Port Canaveral in Florida, Nassau Bahamas, and Free port Bahamas. As this was our 6th cruise that we have been on, these ports of call were not particularly our favorite. We prefer when the ship stops at a private island, because it guarantees a beautiful, nearby beach with blue waters and white/pink sand. Nevertheless, we still had plenty of fun at these stops. In Nassau Bahamas, my sister and I went parasailing on Cabbage Beach. It was such a fun and relaxing activity to do, especially while overlooking a gorgeous island.

About my outfit: About two weeks ago, I was browsing Macy's website, and I glanced upon this beautiful dress made by Rachel Roy, who happens to be one of my favorite fashion designers. I loved the simplistic elegance exhibited by this free flowing dress, and the oceanic colors that it displayed. However, I did not purchase it online because I did not feel like paying a significant amount of money for shipping. Lucky for me, I ended up holding off on it and I happened to run right into it at the Macy's in Herald Square. I actually shrieked when my eyes caught a glimpse of the dress.  As if my day couldn't get any better, the dress came to a total of $35, after several price reductions. You just can't get better than that!

Summer Nights in the Big Apple

Top: Marshall's, Skirt: Zara, Shoes: BCBG via DSW,  Necklace:Lauren Conrad via Kohl's

A few weeks ago, my sister and I went to a free OAR concert in Battery Park, in NYC.  This is the perfect activity to do on a warm summer night, during the week.  You have free entertainment and a gorgeous view; what else can one possibly need? It is a great way to sit back, and take a break from a busy week. There are always free events in Manhattan, you just have to constantly be on the lookout for them. Definitely keep your eyes open for a free concert like this one, because it is definitely worth going to!

About my outfit: As you probably know, I am a huge fan of the midi-skirt. It is a chic and elegant look, that can be pulled off throughout almost every season of the year. This style of clothing alone, is the reason why the 1950's was probably my favorite decade in terms of clothing trends. I recommend pairing this style of skirt with a cropped, and semi-fitted shirt. You don't want to overwhelm your body by wearing a full-pleated skirt with a long flouncy top. What is your go-to look for the summertime?

New York State of Mind

Dress: Free People; Blazer: Free People, Hat:  Knee Socks: Marshall's; Booties: Vera Wang via Kohl's; Crossbody Bag: Nine West via Marshall's

Now that I have officially completed my first year of college at the Fashion Institute of Technology, I am hoping to have more free time for doing what I love to do best, blogging. If you happen to be a college student like myself, you may oftentimes find yourself getting caught up in tons of homework and studying, that you might not leave yourself enough time to do what truly makes you happy.  As a matter of fact, this is one of many goals that I set for myself, throughout the upcoming school year. But for right now, I am going to try my best to sit back and relax in the sun and enjoy my summer vacation.

A week before the chaos of finals began, my cousin came to visit me for the weekend.  She came at a great time because being able to spend time with her, put me at ease before the stressful week to come. Being that she does not live in close proximity to New York City, I wanted to show her as much of the amazing city as possible.  In just three days, we saw GiGi on Broadway and met Vanessa Hudgens, walked through Central Park, experienced FITChella block party at FIT, walked the highline, Chelsea Piers, the East and West Villages, Soho, Madison Square Park,  and last but not least the Brooklyn Bridge. We were both exhausted by the end of the weekend, but it was completely worth it!

Hello Warmer Weather

Top:from my sister's closet; jacket: Free People via Marshall's, Sunglasses: TJMaxx; Booties: Vera Wang via Kohl's

I could not be happier that Spring seems to have finally sprung! To me, warmer weather gives me more of an excuse to do what I love most: wander around New York City.  Being that this past weekend was so beautiful outside, I had to take advantage of it. My friend Ally and I discovered that one of our favorite neighborhoods in the city is the West Village.  The area is filled with such beautiful buildings, not to mention cafes and restaurants as well.  There is just something about the West Village that reminds of a peaceful getaway from the bustling and always crowded Times Square. While on our walk, we decided to stop at this really cute 50's style diner, called Hamilton's Soda Fountain and Luncheonette.  If you are a lover of milkshakes, soda, ice cream, or any combination of the 3, I definitely recommend this place!  They also have some basic diner type items-hamburgers, hotdogs, fries, and all at very reasonable prices.  I would definitely go back to this place in a heartbeat, that it just how much I enjoyed it.

I have been dying to blog about this subtle floral printed jacket that I am wearing in my photos above.  I found this jacket on clearance at Marshall's.  It was originally worth over $100, but after several price reductions, the purple clearance tag read only $25!I could not believe my eyes when I saw the quality of the item for the price that it was marked at.  This is the type of deal that you just cannot pass up.

Goodbye Winter

Coat: Sam Edelman; Top: Rachel Roy; Pants:Rachel Roy via Macy's Boots: Tommy Hilfiger; Hat: Michael Kors

Looking back through my photos, I realized that I forgot to post these pictures from a very cold, but fun February day.  My friend and I went to an event hosted by Bauble Bar and Benefit Cosmetics, at the Chelsea Market.  On our walk back, we decided to take advantage of the great photo opportunity that these pretty apartment buildings provided us with. This winter seemed as if it was never going to come to an end.  I am relieved to see that the weather is finally beginning to warm up and that the springtime is very near!  I hope this will be my last winter outfit post for a while.

New York Fashion Week

Although New York Fashion Week has been over for approximately two weeks,  I am just finding the time to post about it now, which I am very sorry about.  However, Paris Fashion Week is just beginning now, so I figured that this post would still be relevant to the industry.  As is the case with all of you fashion enthusiasts out there, Fashion Week is one of the most wonderful times of the year..next to the Holiday Season of course.   Even though I am not yet someone important enough to be personally invited to a show, I had the amazing opportunity of volunteering for an event during New York Fashion week, as I had done last semester as well.  Through the use of connections that the Fashion Institute of Technology has, I was able to to sign up and volunteer for a marketing agency called PLITZS. The event that this company hosted was comprised of multiple collections presented from up and coming designers from all around the world. It is truly an amazing experience to go behind the scenes and see with your very own eyes what actually happens before showtime.  I was lucky enough to help the models change into their clothing and prepare them for their walk down the runway.  As a volunteer, you have to be willing to act quickly and be prepared to do whatever you are told to do.  During some of the shows, there was a shortage of models present, so myself and the other volunteers had to run around backstage, trying to find replacement models that would be able to fit into the outfits needed.  It can sometimes be very hectic and crazy, but it is worth every minute of it!

Liebster Award

Hi Everyone! I just wanted to thank Sarina Cannizzaro from Kiss of Pink for nominating me for the Liebster Award!  This award is passed around in the blogging community to bloggers who have 200 or fewer followers, as a way for bloggers to get to know one another. In order to accept the award, each nominee has to answer the questions that the nominator asked them.  They then have to make up eleven questions of their own and pass it on to five other bloggers who he/she wishes to nominate for the award.
Here are my responses to the questions that Sarina asked me!:

1. How did you create your blog name?
When I first decided to create my own blog, it honestly took me a little while to come up with the right name for it.  I knew that I wanted to include a clear hint in the name to show that it is primarily a fashion blog.  As I started coming up with different names in my head, for some reason the word 'craving' came up because I am constantly craving different foods and I thought that it also related to fashion because along with most other people, I am always looking into new trends and styles to incorporate into my wardrobe.

2. What made you want to start blogging?
For as long as I can remember, fashion has always been a huge part of my life. A few years ago, I decided that I wanted to share my ideas and personal style with others who have similar interests to me.  It is a way for me to share my creativity and I always have a blast while doing so.

3. How long have you been blogging for?
I have been blogging for about 1 and a half years now, and I have been loving every second of it!  Although I have been doing it for a decent amount of time now, I am still in the process of learning more about it each and every time I make a new post.

4. What do you find most challenging about blogging?
When I went away to school, I started to find it difficult to consistently keep up with my blog and to find enough room in my schedule to continue to work on it.

5. What do you find most rewarding about blogging?
What I find most rewarding about having my own blog is the satisfaction that I get from posting and seeing that there are some people out there who actually do read my blog and I can't be more thankful for that! I love seeing people's reactions to what I have to say and I am amazed every time I see a comment on one of my blog posts.

6. How many times a week do you try to post?
I am working on trying to be more consistent with my posts.  It is sometimes difficult to keep up with it very often while trying to juggle school work and other school related activities.  Ideally, I am hoping to post at least 1-2 times a week in the future.

7. What is your favorite movie?
My all time favorite movie is definitely The Parent Trap with Lindsey Lohan.  When I was in Kindergarten, my mother and I would watch this movie every single day after school.  After watching it so many times, both of us remembered all of the lines and we still love watching it to this day.

 8. What is your favorite fashion trend?
One of my favorite trends has to be a full/pleated skirt.  I love the look of it and I am always drawn to them anytime I see them in a store.

9. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I have always wanted to go to Italy because I have family there and also because I want to be able to experience the beautiful country.  I am hoping to travel there for a study abroad program in a couple of years.

10. If you were given a million dollars, how would you spend it?
I have actually thought about this many times and it is always so hard for me to come up with a definite answer.  I think I would buy my dream house on a tropical island and I would bring all of my family members and friends to stay with me.  I would then save some of the money for a few spurge purchases and the rest I would donate to those in need.

11. If you could meet any celebrity (alive or passed) who would it be?
A dream come true for me would be if I met the whole cast of the tv show "Friends."  I love that show so much and it never fails to lighten my mood and put a smile on my face.

Now I would like to nominate the following bloggers for the Liebster Award:
-Ally Moran from Ally Takes New York -Jaime Taylor from Candy Stilettos -Lyndsay from Prosecco in the Park -Claire from Little Miss Fashion Queen -Cara from Cara's Cliché

In order to accept the award, each nominee must answer the eleven questions below.  Then you will nominate 5-10 other bloggers for the award and be sure to comment on one of their posts to let them know that you nominated them!

Here are your questions to answer:
1. What inspired you to create your blog?
2. What do you love most about blogging?
3. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
4. What is your favorite thing to do in your free time?
5. What is your favorite childhood memory?
6. What is your favorite store to shop in and why?
7. How did you choose your blog name?
8. Who is your biggest inspiration in life?
9. What is your favorite television show?
10. Do you prefer coffee or tea?
11. If you could wish for one thing in life, what would it be?

Chic with a Twist of Prep

White Top: Kenneth Cole Reaction Outlet Store; Fuzzy Sweater: Marshall's; Skirt: Lauren Conrad via Kohl's; Booties: Vera Wang Via Kohl's ; Knee Socks: TJ Maxx
It has been a while since the last time I have made a post, and to anyone who may view my blog I am sorry about that delay! Before I went away to school, I relied on one of my family members to take my pictures for my blog.  Now that I am no longer at home all of the time,  I have learned that I have to set aside more time for myself to work on it and to find others willing to take the pictures for me.   I am now on my last week of break after completing my first semester at college.  Some people say the first semester of college is the toughest, but I am glad that I made it through successfully!

About my Outfit: TJ Maxx is one of my all-time favorite stores to shop in anytime of the year.  It is one of those stores that you have to frequently shop in because they are constantly getting new merchandise in their stores that you don't want to miss out on.  After Christmas, I took a trip to my local TJ Maxx and found these perfect knee high socks on clearance for just $4! They didn't have any packaging on them, which may have accounted for the very discounted price which was definitely fine by me.  After I bought them, I knew that I wanted to get use out of them right away so I thought to myself..what better combination is there besides knee socks and a skirt? I didn't want to cover up the look of the socks by wearing my tall black boots, so I paired them with my new black booties that I received as a Christmas gift. I found this black sweater a few months ago at Marshall's for only $16 and I immediately fell in love with the texture of it.  Last summer I had purchased this white top from the Kenneth Cole Reaction outlet store in Atlantic City, New Jersey for just $17!  Even though I was in summer mode at the time of my purchase, I knew that this piece would become an essential in my wardrobe because I did not previously own a plain white button down shirt.  Therefore, you should always keep your eyes wide open for classic items ahead of time, because that is often when you may find the best deals.
