Photoshoot Fun

My pants: Forever 21 Hat: Forever 21, My ballet flats: Steve Madden via TJ Maxx, Red Coat: American Rag via Macy's

I haven't posted anything in quit a while due to my busyness with college applications and other activities.  Thanks to the Thanksgiving break, I finally had a chance to take some pictures with my cousins.  Although it was freezing out, we decided to take advantage of the beautiful fall scenery outside of my grandparents' house.  About my outfit: This black crochet sweater that I am wearing was my aunt's from when she was a teenager, which I found while searching through my grandparents' closets. I really enjoy finding pieces of clothing from decades ago that come back in style and that I can use to create a current stylish outfit.  I bought these harem pants from Forever 21 about a month ago, and I just love the cobalt blue and black pattern in them. The hat that my cousin and I are both wearing is from Forever 21, which I bought the other day on Black Friday at 1 a.m.  I was so excited to have the chance to go Black Friday shopping this year, because I wanted to experience the big sales and huge crowds on this famous day.  To my surprise, I bought this hat for $6, and it was originally $16!  I was so excited when I saw it because I have been looking for a felt wide brim hat for a while now.  This hat is perfect for a cool winter day to top of a nice cozy outfit. I received this red coat (worn by my cousin) as a Christmas present last year.  I loved the fur collar, along with the feminine shape on the coat.
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and I wish you all a wonderful holiday!

Top and Skirt:Marshall's, Shoes: Guess via DSW, necklace: Forever 21
School started again last week: my last and final year of high school! Being that we are still in the transition from summer to fall, the school is still exrememly hot and uncomfortable.  So, I like wearing skirts and dresses, so that I will feel cooler, and also stylish at the same time.  I bought this floral high-low skirt at Marshall's last year, for only $16.99  This crochet top is also from Marshall's, but was given to me by my sister, because she no longer wanted it.  I bought these Guess wedges from DSW a few years ago, on sale. I loved the cork wedges on these shoes and the fact that they are a tan color.  They complement many outfits and also give me a few inches at the same time! Again, I incorporated this yellow bag into the outfit for the pop of color.  Without it, the outfit would be a little duller.

Start of Autumn

Skirt-American Rag via Macy's, Shirt-my mom's:Apt. 9, Necklace-Macy's
Even though summer is over, I still try to get as much use out of my summer pieces as possible.  Also, Fall does not mean that you can't wear white.  White, especially white pants, are perfect for the fall weather.  I bought this skirt at Macy's for only $14.  Now is a perfect time to shop for clothing essentials that can also be worn in the fall, because there are many good items on clearance now.  This top was actaully originally a short-sleeved shirt of my mom's that I found in her closet and cut and tied. Below is a picture of what the shirt looked like before I cut it.  I chose to cut this shirt because I really loved the color, especially for Fall.  I was not in love witht the sleeves, so I decided to cut them off, which gave the shirt a new look.

Chevron

Top-Marshall's, Shorts-Bar III via Macy's, vest-Dolled up via Macy's, Bracelets and Earrings-Forever 21

When I saw these chevron shorts at Macy's, I had to get them.  I loved the print and I also loved the fact that they were high-waisted.  I ended up getting them for somewhere between $20 and $30.  I also bought this crochet vest from Macy's on a different day, for $14.  I found the vest on the clearance rack, along with many other good finds, which I will be showing another day. These bracelets, along with the earrings were given to me as a present from my sister.  I paired them with this outfit because they are tribal print, and I thought they complemented the outfit well.

Polka Dots

Dress-Marshalls, Top-T.J.Maxx, Necklace-INC via Macy's, Bracelet and headband-Forever 21, Crossbody-Michael Kors (given to me as a gift)

As you can probably tell, I love layering different pieces.  I spend a lot of time just going through my closet, in order to see what I can pair together and what can be mixed and matched. It doesn't always work out perfectly but it is certainly worth the try.  Sometimes, I could never imagine myself wearing two specific pieces together, until I try it on.  I love doing this because it adds a different style and feel to the outfit.  I bought this dress from Marshalls last year, for only $16.99. I actually went to Marshalls today and saw the same dress, but in a different color, and it is now on clearance.  This necklace from Macy's was originally $30.  There was no sign saying that it was on sale.  Luckily, however, I went to the cashier, and she told me it was on sale for $10.  With a coupon, I ended up buying it for only $8! So, if you really like something, don't be afraid to ask!

Free as a Bird

Dress(Worn as Skirt)-Marshalls, Top-Marshalls, Belt-from a dress, Necklace-Forever 21 Bag-H&M Sandals-Vera Wang from Kohl's

I decided to pair this crochet top with this high-low dress just to add an extra flare to the outfit.  This dress cost me only $16.99 and can be worn in many ways.  I love the flow and airy feel to it, which makes it perfect for summer.  I would also pair this dress with a denim vest or jacket to add another element to the outfit.

Delicate Floral

Dress-Free People, Handbag-H&M, Shoes-DSW(Rocketdog), Bracelet-Forever 21,Necklace-Forever 21

Floral is a classic summer print that will always be in style.  This Free People dress has such a light, bouncy feel to it, which is really perfect for this time of the year.  I added a pop of color to this outfit (the handbag), which really helped bring out the delicate floral print in this dress.  For an extra touch, I wore this flower crown around my bun, which I found laying around my house. Don't feel afraid to use an miscellaneous objects laying around in your house, in order to spruce up your outfit.  This flower crown was from an old dance costume, and it ended up working perfectly for this outfit!  I found my sandals on sale at DSW for only $20, and I had to get them! This feather necklace was given to me as a gift, and it has become inseparable from me.  It adds a light, bohemian feel to any oufit, which is why it complements this dress.

City loving

Dress- Kohl's (Lauren Conrad),  Vest-The Gap, Shoes- Marshalls(Tommy Hilfiger) Handbag-T.J. Maxx(Michael Kors), Sunglasses-Marshalls( Kate Spade) Necklace-Forever 21

Hi everyone! This is my first official post.  Yesterday, I went on two college tours: F.I.T. and N.Y.U.  After the tour of N.Y.U, we went to Washington Square Park, which is where these pictures were taken.
About my outfit: As we all know, maxi dresses have been really in this summer.  When I saw this dress, I immediately fell in love with it.  This crochet dress is perfect for a cool summer day, which was just what yesterday was.  I paired the dress with my denim vest.  This vest was originally a long-sleeved denim jacket from the gap, which was given to me as a gift a long time ago.  When I finally decided to wear the jacket, the sleeves were too short.  So, I decided to cut the sleeves off the jacket and I left myself with a cute denim vest, which completes any outfit. I saw this Michael Kors handbag in T.J. Maxx about a year ago.  I begged my mom to get it, being that Michael Kors is one of my favorite designers and also because I loved the design of the bag itself.  We ended up getting it on sale, for more than 50% off of it's original price.  I bought these Kate Spade Albertine sunglasses at Marshalls, for $32.  It is originally around $150 online or in department stores.
