New York Fashion Week

Although New York Fashion Week has been over for approximately two weeks,  I am just finding the time to post about it now, which I am very sorry about.  However, Paris Fashion Week is just beginning now, so I figured that this post would still be relevant to the industry.  As is the case with all of you fashion enthusiasts out there, Fashion Week is one of the most wonderful times of the year..next to the Holiday Season of course.   Even though I am not yet someone important enough to be personally invited to a show, I had the amazing opportunity of volunteering for an event during New York Fashion week, as I had done last semester as well.  Through the use of connections that the Fashion Institute of Technology has, I was able to to sign up and volunteer for a marketing agency called PLITZS. The event that this company hosted was comprised of multiple collections presented from up and coming designers from all around the world. It is truly an amazing experience to go behind the scenes and see with your very own eyes what actually happens before showtime.  I was lucky enough to help the models change into their clothing and prepare them for their walk down the runway.  As a volunteer, you have to be willing to act quickly and be prepared to do whatever you are told to do.  During some of the shows, there was a shortage of models present, so myself and the other volunteers had to run around backstage, trying to find replacement models that would be able to fit into the outfits needed.  It can sometimes be very hectic and crazy, but it is worth every minute of it!
